Homes for Sale in Laveen
Though the area was originally settled back in 1884, by farmers and their families, Laveen has since grown into an increasingly urbanized little community. Until the Roosevelt Dam was built in 1911, Laveen was isolated from the neighboring city of Phoenix by the Salt River and therefore grew to be autonomous and self-sufficient.
Early development of the town included two general stores, two pool halls, a repair garage, a barbershop, and a building for the Laveen Women’s Club, all of which provided important gathering locations for the growing community.
Boasting a population under 50,000 as of the year 2000, Laveen enjoys a small community and a rural atmosphere, despite the urban development. This small population allows the town to remain a quiet, serene community where residents can enjoy the beauty of the Sonoran Desert and other leisurely activities in peace and prosperity.
One of the favorite leisurely pastimes in Laveen is golf and so supports two courses. The Bougainvillea Golf Club, once a private club, became a public course in October 2012 when it came under new management and then became known as the Southern Ridge Golf Club. The Aguila Golf Course has always been open to the public and continues that tradition to this day.
Education is a buzzword in Laveen, which is serviced by no less than three different school distrcits, due to the way Laveen is located partially within the Phoenix city limits and partially an unincorporated area in Maricopa County. Featuring more than six elementary schools, two charter schools, a private school, and three high schools, parents have plenty of options available when choosing the best education possible for their children.
Needless to say, if you’re looking for a peaceful, quiet, and friendly community to call home with all the amenities of the city while enjoying the atmosphere of a small town, Laveen is the place for you.
